GGP Names New President
Shobi Khan has been promoted after five years as the company's COO.
Chicago—General Growth Properties Inc. recently promoted Shobi Khan to president & COO. In his new role, Khan will oversee asset management, investments, joint-venture partnerships and day-to-day operations. He will begin immediately, continuing to report directly to Sandeep Mathrani, CEO of the company.
Prior to joining the company as COO in 2011, Khan served as U.S. chief investment officer at Bentall Kennedy and as senior vice president of investments at Equity Office Properties Trust. During his 11 years at Equity Office Properties Trust, he led the underwriting of $16 billion in office REIT mergers and was involved with the company’s $39 billion sale to Blackstone in 2007. He also worked for Katz Hollis Inc. and Arthur Andersen LLP in real-estate related positions.
Khan holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA degree from the University of Southern California. He is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
“Shobi has been one of my trusted colleagues during the transformation of GGP into one of the leading retail real estate companies in the U.S. Over the last five years, Shobi’s responsibilities have broadened and it gives me great pleasure to recognize him with this promotion,” said Mathrani in a prepared statement.
