Regency Centers Corp. has acquired Indigo Square, an eight-acre site in Mount Pleasant, S.C., for the development of a 51,000-square-foot retail project. The company purchased the property from Johnson Development Group. Regency Center’s retail project is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Located at 1640 James Nelson Road, Indigo Square is the retail component of a master development that includes the 456-unit Haven at Indigo Square, a CubeSmart self-storage facility and a Home2Suites hotel. The Haven at Indigo Square, Cube Smart and Home2Suites are already open and operating.
Bustling location
Regency Center’s retail development will be anchored by GreenWise Market, a Publix Super Markets concept. Indigo Square will be the second newly redesigned GreenWise Market in the southeast. The Tallahassee, Fla., location is expected to open in late 2018 as well.
“GreenWise Market is the perfect foundation for a project that will also feature excellent local and national tenants catering to the same discerning local customer,” said Chris Widmayer, vice president of Regency Centers, in prepared remarks.
Indigo Square is centrally situated in Mount Pleasant’s shopping district along U.S. Route 17, between Interstate 526 and the Isle of Palms Connector. These major thoroughfares provide access to Daniel Island, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms and the Charleston Peninsula.
