Helix Hospitality has acquired the 78-key Residence Inn Huntsville, located in Huntsville, Ala., from BRE Select Hotels Corp. Built in 2002 by Apple Hospitality, the REIT sold the extended-stay hotel to BRE in 2013 as part of a $604 million hospitality portfolio transaction. The previous owner completely renovated the building’s guestrooms and public areas in 2016.

Located at 6305 Residence Inn Road, the three-story Residence Inn by Marriott hotel sits near the Redstone Arsenal, a U.S. military post home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The building is situated along the University Drive retail corridor, next to Westside Centre, a 666,000-square-foot shopping center home to Target, Michael’s and PetSmart. Guest amenities at the Residence Inn include complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool and on-site laundry facilities. Parking is available for guests at no additional charge.

“The Residence Inn plays a key role in our overall growth strategy for 2018. The property is well positioned in the dynamic Huntsville market which we anticipate will continue to grow in the coming years,” said J.R. Patel, president of Helix Hospitality, in a prepared statement.
