Here’s a Look at PUMA’s New HQ

This brand-new building is part of a $1.2 billion Boston development.

Global sports brand PUMA has relocated approximately 450 employees from two offices in Boston and Westford, Mass., into its new 150,000-square-foot North American headquarters at Assembly Row in Somerville, Mass.

PUMA signed a long-term lease with owner Federal Realty Investment Trust for the new office property in January 2019. Located at 455 Grand Union Blvd., the new headquarters was designed by global architecture, design and planning firm Gensler as flexible office space.

The design will give PUMA room to grow its business and help the company attract new talent. The company is leasing about half of the space at the 13-story, 300,000-square-foot property that features a 19,000-square-foot roof deck with a dining area and art installations.

The building also has a state-of-the-art fitness center, on-location kids’ room for children visiting the office, bike storage, a 2,300-square-foot balcony and close proximity to Assembly Row’s dining, shopping and health and wellness benefits. It also has 25,000 square feet of retail space and 550 parking spaces.

Assembly Row neighborhood

The $1.2 billion Assembly Row development is a mixed-use neighborhood outside Boston. Owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust, the first phase broke ground in 2012 and opened in 2014. Assembly Row includes retail, restaurants, residential space, office and research and development space, a multi-screen theater and hotel. Located on the west bank of the Mystic River, the neighborhood includes a marina, waterfront park, bike paths, additional green space and an MBTA rail station. The third phase, which includes the PUMA building and the 500-unit Miscela luxury apartment community, is nearing completion.

PUMA executives said bringing their entire North American team into one site will help with collaboration and propel the brand forward. Bob Philion, president of PUMA North America, said in a prepared statement the new space reflects the company’s “Forever Faster” mentality and will enable them to put creativity and innovation at the forefront.

The headquarters was constructed by Timberline Construction, a leading New England construction management firm. Cushman & Wakefield’s Michael Joyce represented PUMA in the lease negotiations with Federal Realty Investment Trust. Mary Kay Smith and Alec White, also of Cushman & Wakefield, represented PUMA throughout project execution phases.
