Hilton Debuts New 196-Key Hotel in Brooklyn

New York—Hilton Hotels & Resorts has opened Hilton Brooklyn New York, a 196-key hotel in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood, which is owned by Flank and managed by Urgo Hotels & Resorts.

Located at 140 Schermerhorn St., the 19-story mixed-use commercial, retail and condominium development offers spacious guest rooms and suites for travelers looking to experience the buzz and vibrancy that makes up Brooklyn today.

“While New York City has long been a popular tourist destination, attracting record-breaking numbers of tourists each year, Brooklyn has made a name for itself as a destination all on its own,” Shawn McAteer, Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ vice president of global brand management, told Commercial Property Executive. “The pace of development in Brooklyn has been remarkable, yet there were still few full-service hotel offerings, and we knew that with the opening of a Hilton hotel we could bring new levels of hospitality to the borough.”

With 2,300 square feet of dedicated function space, Hilton Brooklyn New York can accommodate up to 140 attendees for meetings and social events. For business and leisure travelers who want access to services and facilities on their own schedule, the hotel’s round-the-clock amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, a business center, grab-and-go pantry and concierge service.

“Our location cannot be beat, whether guests are staying with us to explore the best of Brooklyn or sights in Manhattan and beyond,” McAteer said. “Also, guests will truly feel a part of the Boerum Hill community within our walls.”

Hilton Brooklyn New York’s design aesthetic captures the neighborhood vibe, with features that include a rope motif that pays tribute to the Schermerhorn rope factory that previously occupied the site in the 19th century. Stonehill & Taylor designed the interior to pay further tribute to its building ancestors, adding carpeting patterned with rope imagery running the full length of corridors, and murals of vintage neighborhood maps lining the walls.

The development is nearby Brooklyn attractions including the Barclays Center, Brooklyn Heights Promenade, Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It’s also within steps of many quintessential Brooklyn experiences, and close by 12 different subway lines.

Celebrated chef Rob Newton is bringing a piece of the borough into the hotel with his newest venture, Black Walnut.
