Hines has promoted Laura Hines-Pierce to co-CEO of the company. In her new role, she will serve alongside her father, Chairman & CEO Jeff Hines. The announcement comes just as the firm marks 65 years since it was launched by Gerald D. Hines, Laura’s grandfather.

Hines-Pierce joined the company in 2012 and was promoted to senior managing director in 2020. During this time, she was involved in the creation of three funds in the U.S. and Asia that mobilized a total of $4.8 billion in equity.

The new Hines co-CEO has also served as project manager for River Point, a 1.4-million-square-foot office tower in Chicago’s West Loop. Since opening in 2017, the property has become home to the offices of Servcorp, Morton Salt, Harrison Street and Levy Family Partners.

Hines-Pierce was also part of the team that launched OneHines Women Network, an initiative focused on inclusivity and diversity within the industry. Of the company’s 4,850 worldwide employees, nearly half are women, and 40 percent are under the age of 35, The Houston Chronicle reported.

Since launching back in 1957, Hines has built a diverse portfolio that currently includes 634 properties, the equivalent of 243 million square feet of industrial and office spaces. One of Hines’ largest current developments is Bison Grove Business Park, an 880,000-square-foot light industrial park in Dallas. The company recently announced that Hilti leased more than half of the upcoming space.
