InterContinental Hotels Group has partnered with SAMHI to rebrand a portfolio of 14 hotels in India as Holiday Inn Express properties. Included in the deal are approximately 2,000 guestrooms across ten existing hotels and four which are under construction. With this partnership, IHG increases its footprint in India by 34 percent.
All the existing hotels will close to undergo renovations as part of the transition to the global Holiday Inn Express brand. The properties are located across several major cities, including Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Kolkata.
“This is a significant move towards establishing IHG as a leading player in the midscale hotel segment in India, while we continue to build on our upscale and luxury offering in the country with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts,” said Sudeep Jain, IHG vice president of development for South West Asia, in prepared remarks.
With the addition of these properties to its portfolio, IHG will have 60 Holiday Inn-branded hotels open and in the development pipeline throughout India.
