IKEA has leased additional warehouse space as part of its Matrix Global Logistics Park in Staten Island, N.Y., to operate as a customer service fulfillment center. Upon completion, the project will complement the company’s network of seven regional distribution centers.

Supporting its 47 U.S. stores, the location comprises 975,000 square feet and will be up and running in late 2018. The site will focus on delivering items to customers who order online or buy larger products at a physical store. Operated by CEVA Logistics, the project will create 200 additional jobs in the area.

“As we expand across the country and grow our online presence, we want to ensure we have sufficient warehouse capacity to support the efficient and timely delivery and shipment of products to our customers,” said Lars Petersson, president of IKEA U.S., in prepared remarks. “Our goal is to increase accessibility to IKEA products, and a new fulfillment center in Staten Island will help us meet the home furnishing needs of our customers in the New York metropolitan area.”

In November, the company signed leases for two facilities that will also serve as customer fulfillment centers in Baytown, Texas and American Canyon, Calif.
