New orders decreased compared to 2016 only for Computers and Electronic Products (-0.7 percent), while for the remaining industries, new orders have increased.

On a year-over-year basis, new orders for all manufacturing industries increased by 9.1 percent or approximately $32 billion in June 2017. The most relevant increase came from Transportation Equipment, up by 32.1 percent compared to June 2016 and up by 37.5 percent compared to May 2017. New orders decreased compared to 2016 only for Computers and Electronic Products (-0.7 percent), while for the remaining industries, new orders have increased.
Compared to May 2017, new orders increased for most of the industries, except for Fabricated Metal Products (-1.7 percent), Furniture and Related Products (-1.6 percent) and Nondurable Goods Industries (-1 percent). One of the biggest gains on a month-over-month basis was for Computers and Electronic Products, which increased by $4 billion, or 19.5 percent.
