INTERNATIONAL: Tanger Outlets to Open Newly Constructed 293 KSF Store in Ottawa

The new property is Tanger Outlets' first ground-up construction in Canada.

TangerOttawa, Canada – Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. and RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust have recently announced the grand opening of their newest facility in Canada, Tanger Outlets Ottawa. The celebration will be held on Oct. 17.

Headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. is a publicly-traded real estate investment trust. It operates, owns, or has an ownership interest in a portfolio of 45 outlet shopping centers in Canada and in 26 states throughout the U.S., totaling approximately 13.7 million square feet. The properties are leased to over 2,900 stores operated by more than 440 companies. Over 185 million shoppers visit Tanger Factory Outlet Centers each year. RioCan is Canada’s largest REIT with ownership interests in a portfolio of 340 retail properties containing more than 81 million square feet. The company’s portfolio also includes 16 properties under development in Canada. The two REITs currently co-own outlet centers in Cookstown, Ontario; Bromont, Quebec; and St. Sauveur, Quebec.

The new property is Tanger Outlets’ first ground-up construction in Canada. The 293,000 square-foot center is located off the TransCanada Highway at Palladium Drive, in the suburban area of Kanata. The site has convenient access to the greater Ottawa market. The completed center represents an estimated $120 million investment in Ottawa. The arrival of the retail giant also means the creation of more than 1,000 full- and part-time sales jobs and retail management positions. The new location gives home to a wide selection of brand name and designer retailers such as Nike Factory Store, Calvin Klein Outlet, GAP Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger Outlet, American Eagle Outfitters Factory Outlet, Under Armour Factory Outlet, Fossil Outlet, and many more.

The grand opening of the retail complex will benefit the Ottawa Senators Foundation to promote youth development in the National Capital Region.
