Biosensor technology company ivWatch has opened its headquarters in Newport News, Va. The 25,000-square-foot space is located within the first building of Tech Center Research Park and is expected to encompass state-of-the-art manufacturing, R&D and office space, as well as a large medical setting used to conduct pre- and post-market clinical studies.

The 12050 Jefferson Ave. building is the first of the 10 projects planned for the park, offering collaborative space on the corner of Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue. Last August, the area was designated an opportunity zone. In addition to ivWatch, the three-story building is also home to ITA International, Data Analytics Center and Gather.

The model that W.M. Jordan Co. used for developing the building was Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, a 230-acre park in Blacksburg, Va. The Newport News park is expected to offer more than 1 million square feet of space by its completion date.

The center is located next to Marketplace at Tech Center and can be accessed via Interstate 64. The nearest hotels are Jameson Inn Newport News and the recently renovated Holiday Inn Newport News – City Center Hotel
