Last Year’s Largest New Apartment Developments Completed in The Triad
The Triad’s large scale development sector was responsible for delivering as many as 2,465 new rental units last year, with the biggest apartment community going up in Winston-Salem, according to data from Yardi Matrix.
Greensboro, N.C.—As a transport and manufacturing hub, the Triad area is attractive to career professionals, and access to infrastructure such as the airport draws new businesses and their employees to the area. As a result, apartments in the Triad are in demand, and 2015 saw the completion of a number of upmarket apartment complexes that epitomize the latest trends in high-density living.
We examine which were the largest ones completed last year, based on data from Yardi Matrix.
1. Stafford Place, 360 units
Parr Investments targeted Winston-Salem for its 360-unit development with spacious floor plans and high-end finishes. The complex features extras such as a 21-seat movie theater, a coffee bar where residents can socialize and relax, a business center and a swimming pool. Nowadays, tenants want more than living space. A sense of community helps them to feel connected, and we increasingly see amenities that encourage socializing between tenants. 2. Clemmons Town Center, 312 units
Located in the heart of Clemmons, this 312-unit development, from the same developer that brought Stafford Place to life, places even greater emphasis on community facilities, events and activities. It maintains an almost rural look and feel, and the fishing pond with its pier makes for an unusual feature among the almost-standard luxury amenities such as a fitness center, movie theater and pool. Reflecting a trend for one- and two-bedroom apartments with a spacious feel, apartments feature nine-foot ceilings, walk-in closets and their own private balconies. 3. NorthPoint at 68, 264 units
This trendy 264-unit apartment complex from The Carroll Companies reflects all the latest attractions for the upmarket rental tenant. Two important trends, namely a smoke-free policy and pet-friendly facilities are present here, and it comes as no surprise to find resort-style leisure facilities. The apartments themselves follow the fashion for granite countertops and kitchens with the full range of appliances. (Image courtesy of NorthPoint at 68 Website)
4. Wendover at Meadowood, 264 units
Resembling a classic manor house, this 264-unit apartment building from Keystone Homes primarily targets the market for smart one-and two-bedroom apartments. For a development of this caliber, the fitness center and swimming pool are to be expected, and community activities are featured as an important benefit to residents. Interiors reflect the look and name of the building with high ceilings, wood finishes and gourmet kitchens. (Image courtesy of Wendover at Meadowood Facebook Page)
5. Plant 64, 242 units
Ultra-chic retro-industrial looks characterize this 5-star Winston-Salem development by former NFL player Chris Harrison and his partner Niemann Capital, LLC. With its 242 units comprising a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with high ceilings, huge windows and state-of the-art kitchens and the spacious pool area. A basketball court adds an unconventional touch to the list of amenities. (Image courtesy of Plant 64 Facebook Page)
