Lendlease has completed the construction of the world’s tallest and largest engineered timber office building, 25 King, located at the Brisbane Showgrounds in Australia. Owned by Impact Investment Group, the 10-story tower offers open and flexible office space and exposed timber structures. The property was designed and manufactured by Lendlease and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018. The owner selected JLL to handle leasing duties.
“The topping out of 25 King represents another significant milestone in the completion of what will be the world’s tallest and largest engineered timber office building by gross floor area,” said Tony Orazio, general manager QLD & NT, Lendlease Building, in a prepared statement.
The company is targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating, 5 Star NABERS Energy rating and Well Core & Shell. The asset currently already has a 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia. Global engineering firm Aurecon is set to lease 43.5 percent of the building. IIG is working within Lendlease to secure new tenants for the remaining space.
“25 King is the definition of a connected, collaborative workspace for high-performance teams,” said Darren Brusnahan, head of Funds Management, Real Estate, Impact Investment Group, in prepared remarks.
Earlier this year, Lendlease’s Chicago location at 30 S. Wacker St. was the first to receive a 3 Star Fitwel rating in Chicago and the first commercial interior space to receive the highest rating under the certification system in Illinois.
