Narven Enterprises has selected Level 3 Construction to renovate the Holiday Inn Express Downtown San Diego. The makeover is slated for completion this summer and includes upgrades to 131 guestrooms and three corridors, new elevator enclosures and the addition of 13 guestrooms.
The hotel located at 1430 7th Ave., received an exterior renovation in 2016. Level 3 will enclose two exterior elevators in new shafts and construct structural elements for new elevator cabs. The project includes 104 tub-to-shower conversions, the demolition of existing finishes, as well as the installation of tile flooring in bathrooms, carpet tiles, glass shower doors, bathroom occupancy sensors, under counter sinks with faucets and p-traps and MPL surrounds. Thirteen additional rooms will take the place of existing office space and oversized suites, bringing the key-count to 144.
Located right across from the historic El Cortez hotel and just off Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego, the hotel is about 1 mile from Balboa Park, a 1,200-acre urban cultural park that is home to 17 museums and the San Diego Zoo. Hotel amenities include an outdoor pool and a business center.
This is Level 3 Construction’s 49th hotel renovation. The company’s recent projects in San Diego also include the conversion of The Wall, a 1920s dance hall, into an office building.
