Boston—The Seaport District is seeing major changes lately, and Goodwin Procter’s recent ribbon cutting at 100 Northern Ave. is yet another checkpoint for the burgeoning market.

With the Boston Consulting Group announcing its move to nearby 200 Pier 4 Blvd., General Electric’s Seaport District relocation and Skanska’s $452 million sale, the area around Fallon Co.’s 21-acre Fan Pier development keeps getting hotter. Goodwin Procter’s recent move to the 17-story, 516,000-square-foot Class A office tower is the latest addition to the action. Leaving downtown’s 53 State St., the global law firm will neighbor the Institute of Contemporary Art and One Marina Park Drive within the $3 billion mixed-use Fan Pier project.

Goodwin is the anchor tenant of the LEED Silver-certified, built-to-suit 100 Northern Ave. tower, occupying floors seven through 17, or approximately 375,000 square feet. The building, which overlooks the 6-acre Fan Pier Marina, also includes approximately 18,000 square feet of ground floor retail. The Fallon Co. and Mass Mutual Financial Group broke ground on the HoK-designed high-rise two years ago.

“100 Northern Ave. is the fifth Boston address in Goodwin’s 104 years in the city, and the first not on State Street,” Andrew Sucoff, Goodwin’s Boston office chair, said in prepared remarks. “Our move to the Seaport District … is a significant milestone, emblematic of our evolution as a firm.”
