Boston—Marcum LLP has revealed its Boston office plan, as part of the accounting company’s national campaign of workplace renovations and expansions. The 50,000-square-foot space, occupying the 17th and 18th floors of the building at 53 State St., will be an “organized, yet abstract” open-plan designed by Spector Group.
The corridor free plan features floating glass cube executive offices with team and department areas, all in a relaxed, living room-like atmosphere. Marcum employees can get together into one of the many alternative collaborative work areas and enjoy a break in a bistro or café, as there are several on each floor. The lively ambience is also present in the Marcum “meeting place”, a versatile meet, relax, talk, play, drink and eat space that stimulates interaction.
“We are a company of entrepreneurs who work with entrepreneurs and we want to use our office to help attract and retain the business professionals who want to be part of our mission to help our clients and our firm grow and succeed,” Jeffrey Weiner, the firm’s managing partner, said in a prepared statement.
The design concept is atypical for an accounting and advisory services firm, as other entities in the industry refuse to create a workplace environment that energizes staff and clients. The renovation will be complete in December, a spokesperson for Spector Group told Commercial Property Executive. Marcum hopes that their reinvented office will gain recognition from the company’s partners and employees.
