Marty Burger Kicks Off New Venture
Alongside Andrew Farkas, the ex-CEO of Silverstein will focus on office-to-resi projects, among others.
Former Silverstein Properties CEO Marty Burger and Island Capital Group Founder & CEO Andrew Farkas are starting a new real estate company named Infinity Global Real Estate Partners, as first reported by Bloomberg Law. The new firm will engage in development, acquisition, financing and fund management, according to the same source.
Infinity Global intends to work in most major U.S. markets, but will start by focusing on New York City, according to Bisnow. The firm’s main activity sectors will include office-to-residential conversions, as well as under-capitalized properties and creating debt-platforms for renovations and development, Commercial Observer reported.
In October 2023, Lisa Silverstein, Larry Silverstein’s daughter, replaced Burger as the company’s CEO. His ousting was due to a shift in the company’s strategy, according to the same source. While Burger had focused on new developments and acquisitions, Silverstein Properties intended to shift gears and concentrate on the existing pipeline and portfolio.
Marty Burger’s Robust CRE Experience
Burger had worked for Silverstein since 2010 and became CEO in 2012, along Larry Silverstein, until he became sole holder of the role in 2014. Before that, he operated his own real estate firm, Artisan Real Estate Ventures, having also worked as an executive at Related Cos. for 9 years, and served as a Blackstone Group Vice President toward the beginning of his career.
During his tenure at Silverstein, Burger oversaw significant projects such as rebuilding the World Trade Center, as well as various hospitality and condo developments.
Farkas, meanwhile, founded Island Capital Group in 2003 after his previous venture, Insignia Financial Group, merged with CBRE. The firm’s background includes some $250 billion in financial restructurings to this point and has a $20 billion annual commercial real estate transactions volume.
