Michael Robinson Becomes Avison Young Principal
Reputable appraiser and filmmaker joins Avison Young's valuation and advisory group in New York City.
New York –Avison Young has chosen commercial real estate appraiser Michael Robinson join to its valuation and advisory team as a principal, effective immediately.
Joining the commercial real estate services firm’s New York City office, Robinson will serve as an appraisal and valuation consultant across a diverse set of property types.
“Michael is a top-level appraiser with many years of experience and is a highly respected and recognized expert in the New York marketplace,” said Avison Young president & princpal Mitti Liebersohn, who hired Robinson. “We are excited to bring his distinctive set of skills to Avison Young to enhance our already strong property appraisal service line offering. Michael will play a leading role in expanding our appraisal services in the New York City area and nationally, ensuring that clients have the most current valuation data at their fingertips.”
Robinson’s experience in commercial real estate exceeds 25 years. He started his career with Laventhol & Horwath, moving on to Chase Manhattan Bank’s real estate investment banking group. Before joining Avison Young, he spent 20 years with KTR Real Estate Advisors.
Robin’s experience in appraisal and valuation touches on several asset types, including industrial, retail, hotel, healthcare, multifamily and mixed-use. His insight into demographic shifts, property market values and project feasibility has earned him reverence from New York City’s commercial real estate community.
Along with being a licensed real estate appraiser, Robinson is also a professional film producer with an MFA degree from the American Film Institute. His production credits include Robert DeNiro’s A Bronx Tale, Rob Reiner’s North and Tony Scott’s The Fan. Robinson is also skilled at writing and directing documentaries and children’s films. He rounds out his resume with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany.
