Missner Group Starts Chicago Office Redevelopment

The seven-story building in the West Loop, which used to be the home of clothes manufacturer Oxxford, will be turned into a modern, nine-story office property.

One year after acquiring the former showroom of Oxxford Clothing in Chicago’s West Loop, The Missner Group has started to redevelop it into a modern office building. The delivery date for the project is mid-2019, with Wright Heerema Architects providing the architectural services and Cushman & Wakefield in charge of leasing.

The seven-story development is located at 1220 W. Van Buren St., at the corner of Van Buren and Racine streets. It currently encompasses 115,000 square feet of office, showroom and manufacturing space. The Missner Group plans to add two more stories to the asset, open up the space and use concrete and brick features throughout in order to preserve the building’s “storied legacy and vintage charm,” according to Glen Missner, president of The Missner Group. Upcoming amenities include:

  • a tenant lounge with rooftop deck
  • fitness center equipped with locker rooms and a lounge
  • several Wi-Fi gathering locations
  • conference center
  • bike parking facilities

The Oxxford benefits from frontage off Interstate 290 with signage options available and skyline views. It is near the Racine ‘L’ Stop, University of Illinois Circle Campus and Rush University Hospital.

In addition to Oxxford, Missner is also working on an industrial building in Aurora, Ill., on which it broke ground in August.
