According to a news release, Morton Salt signed a 16-year lease for 52,500 square feet of office space at 444 W. Lake St., and plans to move into its new home in December 2016.
“Our new headquarters space will be modern, open and high-tech, which we believe will ignite a more energizes, innovative and collaborative workplace environment that our employees desire and deserve,” said Morton Salt CEO Christian Herrmann. The new office will bring together Morton’s 300 Chicago employees with its 50 customer service center employees currently based in Oak Brook, Ill.
The result of a joint venture between Hines, Ivanhoe Cambridge and Levy Family Partners, the new River Point tower will incorporate 1.05 million square feet of space, a 1.5-acre public park and landscaped river, fitness center, dining options, and a conference center. Other tenants include McDermott, DLA Piper LLC and Will & Emery LLP. Designed by Pickard Chilton Architects, the building is pre-certified LEED Gold for its sustainable design.
