Moxy Hotels, Marriott International’s experiential hotel brand, plans to add two more hotels in New York City by the end of 2018, bringing its total to three properties. The new assets, Moxy Downtown and Moxy Chelsea, will join Moxy Times Square, which debuted in September 2017.

“These two new hotels will both have a distinct style and personality, reflective of the culturally rich neighborhoods they are located in, giving locals and visitors alike more ways to play with us,” Toni Stoeckl, global brand leader & vice president, distinctive select service brands at Marriott International, said in prepared remarks.

The 349-key Moxy Chelsea will feature 37 stories. Developed by Lightstone, the hotel will mark the second collaboration between Yabu Pushelberg and Rockwell Group, the same designers behind Moxy Times Square. The architecture by Stonehill Taylor features a raw, industrial facade and a greenhouse-style atrium. The rooftop bar is glass-enclosed and offers views of the Empire State Building, while the retractable windows transform the space into a sky veranda. The interior will include features such as:

  • a flower shop at the entrance
  • trattoria, pasticceria and café
  • live/work/play spaces on the second floor
  • coworking lounge and bar
  • meeting studios
  • mobile check-in/out
  • 24/7 grab-and-go F&B

Moxy Hotels debuted in 2014 in Milan and now includes 23 hotels in Europe, the U.S. and Asia Pacific. There are nearly 90 signed Moxy deals worldwide, 26 of those being in the U.S., expected to open by the end of 2021. In 2018, the brand is scheduled to launch in locations such as Chicago, Washington, D.C., Memphis, Tenn., Atlanta and London.
