New Owner Checks in at Hotel Phillips
Hotel Phillips in Kansas City has changed hands.

Arbor Lodging Partners, through an affiliate, has acquired the iconic Hotel Phillips from Marcus Corp. of Milwaukee. The financial aspects of the transaction were not disclosed.
Once the tallest building in Kansas City, the art-deco hotel originally opened in 1931, flaunting a Midwestern ambiance. The property was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1979. Currently the hotel offers a full-service guest experience, featuring approximately 11,000 square feet of flexible meeting and pre-function space, as well as a restaurant and bar called 12 Baltimore.
The 217-key full-service hotel located in the Power & Light district at 106 W. 12th St. will undergo a series of renovations. NVN Hotels, an affiliate of Arbor, will manage the property throughout the renovation process. Upon completion, the hotel will join the Curio Collection by Hilton.

“We are launching our renovation of this beautiful historic hotel immediately, to deliver a guest experience that takes advantage of all the amenities its downtown location has to offer, and contributes to the revival of the heart of Kansas City,” Vamsi Bonthala, CEO of Arbor Lodging Partners, said in prepared remarks.
“Our hotel platform is in expansion mode; we want our hotels to offer communal spaces to work and socialize; healthy, local selections of food; and for our guests to have an authentic and satisfying experience,” added Arbor Lodging Partners principal Sheenal Patel, who is also CEO of NVN Hotels.
