New Ritz-Carlton Hotel to Open in Eastern China in 2015

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. continues to expand in China, with the opening of a new hotel in the former Chinese capital of Nanjing, in Jiangsu Province.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., L.L.C. continues to expand in China, with the opening of a new hotel in the former Chinese capital of Nanjing, in Jiangsu Province.

The company has partnered with Nanjing New Universe Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. to develop the property, which will be located in the city’s Xiejiekou central business district.

Upon completion in the first quarter of 2015, The Ritz-Carlton, Nanjing will feature 297 rooms and 32 suites, as well as extensive meeting spaces, including a ballroom and seven function rooms. Guests will also have access to four restaurants and bars, a luxury spa, an indoor swimming pool, along with a fitness center.

With an urban population of 8 million people, Nanjing is the second-largest commercial center in Eastern China, after Shanghai. Located in the lower Yangtze River basin, the city is recognized as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, along with Beijing (the country’s current capital), Luoyang, and Chang’an (Xi’an). Nanjing also hosts many UNESCO heritage sites, including tombs from the Ming dynasty.

Ritz-Carlton’s other properties in China are located in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou (pictured), Hong Kong, Sanya, Shanghai, Shanghai Pudong, Shenzhen and Tianjin.
