Northville Five Buys Former Site of Scott Correctional Facility

Project Plan for Village at Northville

Northville, Mich.—Northville Five LLC bought 53 acres of land at the northwest intersection of Five Mile and Beck Roads from the Charter Township of Northville, Mich. for $8.5 million. The former site of the Scott Correctional Facility will be redeveloped into a mixed-use project to include single-family homes, loft-style residential units, retail and dining.

The complex, titled Village at Northville, will target high-end retailers. The community-oriented project is centered on a central park and public gathering area surrounded by what will be a walkable streetscape. Restaurants and shops will also abut the residential areas and the Township Community Park. “The developer worked diligently to develop a concept plan in response to Township and resident concerns. The developer has an excellent reputation as a top-of-class, community-based developer and we look forward to a continuing collaboration to realize the common goal of creating a safe, attractive and high-quality development reflecting the Northville Township image,” Robert Nix, Northville township supervisor, said in a prepared statement.

Village at Northville will break ground this year and construction should be complete in approximately four years. The development is expected to generate at least $2 million annually in property taxes.

The sales proceeds will be divided on a 60/40 basis with the state of Michigan. The Township will use its share of nearly $5 million for the demolition and remediation of the state’s former psychiatric facility located in Northville on Seven Mile Road, west of Haggerty Road.
