International: Oberoi Partners with Ritz-Carlton on M-U Worli Development in Mumbai

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.  has signed a long-term management agreement with Oasis Realty, a joint venture between Oberoi Realty and Sahana Group, to open the first Ritz-Carlton in Mumbai, the entertainment, commercial and financial capital of India.

Located in Worli, the heart of central Mumbai, a prosperous new business district with easy access to the international airport, the new development will feature two towers. The first tower will hold the Ritz-Carlton hotel, while the second tower has been designated for luxury residential condominiums to be managed by The Ritz-Carlton. 

“We have been searching for the perfect location for a premier hotel in Mumbai for several years,” said Herve Humler, president & chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. in a news release “This site offers everything hotel guests could want—a prime business location, stylish and contemporary design in this historically rich and vibrant city.”

The Ritz-Carlton, Mumbai will be the second hotel for the brand in India following the recent opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore in Karnataka.

Designed by U.S.-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the new development will be a beacon on the coastline of the Arabian Sea and will offer views of the Mumbai skyline. The Ritz-Carlton, Mumbai will include 283 rooms, two specialty and fine dining restaurants, an ocean-view bar and numerous other amenities such as a spa, expansive banquet and meeting spaces. The project is being constructed by Samsung C&T Corp., a company that has built in the past some of the world’s tallest buildings such as the Burj Khalifa in UAE and the Petronas Tower in Malaysia. The interior design of the hotel tower will be crafted by Tony Chi.
