Thanks to its top environmental measures, Paramount Group Inc. has seen all three of its San Francisco-based office properties, totaling 2.9 million square feet, achieve LEED Platinum status.

In October, both One Front St. and 50 Beale St. received the coveted certification, which is the U.S. Green Building Council’s highest rating. They joined One Market Plaza, a 1.6-million-square-foot trophy office and retail building, which had previously earned the distinction.

“Having all three of our San Francisco properties receive the prestigious LEED Platinum certification is a significant achievement that demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence,” Albert Behler, Paramount’s chairman, president & CEO, said in a prepared statement. “The steps we have taken to upgrade the quality of our portfolio have resulted in all of our properties being either LEED Platinum or Gold certified, helping to improve our environmental and financial results.”

In fact, last year, Paramount announced all of the office buildings in its consolidated portfolio earned either Gold or Platinum LEED certification. Furthermore, the assets were also awarded ENERGY STAR certification.

Green adjustments

Paramount’s entire San Francisco portfolio aggregating 2.9 million square feet is now LEED Platinum certified, reflecting Paramount’s commitment to being an industry leader in social and environmental responsibility.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the 38-story One Front St. offers 645,000 square feet of space and boasts exceptional views to both the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges. The building has strong access to an abundance of public transit options including BART, MUNI, cable car, ferry and bus service.

Originally designed as a headquarters for the Bechtel Corp., the 24-story 50 Beale offers 660,000 square feet of Class A office space in San Francisco’s South Financial District. The building is just a block from the Transbay Terminal and the Embarcadero BART station on Market Street and is close to numerous high-end retail shopping, cultural hot-spots and dining opportunities.

For both of these properties, Paramount increased water efficiency by more than 30 percent, received the maximum allotment of points for the Location & Transportation category, and pursued a light pollution reduction credit. The company also achieved superior ratings in IAQ standards and water diversion, including registering high composting rates. All of this helped each property to be awarded LEED Platinum.
