Flexential Adds 100 KSF to OR Facility

Flexential (formerly Peak 10 + ViaWest) has begun construction work on a 114,700-square-foot expansion of its Hillsboro, Ore. facility, that will feature a completely new building, adjacent to the existing one. The Brookwood data center will total approximately 220,000 square feet of raised floor space once it is completed.

The facility is located at 5737 N.E. Huffman St. It offers tenants 18,000 kVA capacity with fault-redundant UPS, private suites and cages in half and full cabinet configurations, 6,000 tons of fault-tolerant cooling capacity, anti-static raised flooring, as well as monitored security cameras and an intercom system, with biometric authentication and a six-zone security access.

Two subsea fiber cables will end their path at Flexential’s Brookwood facility. Spanning more than 8,600 miles across the Pacific Ocean, the Hawaiki Submarine Cable will be the first carrier-neutral, low-latency, fiber connection between the continental U.S., Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and American Samoa. It will provide access to international carriers, at up to 43 Terabits per second. A second cable, developed by NCP, will connect the Northwestern U.S. to East Asia, reducing latency and delivering up to 80 Terabits per second.

Flexential recently completed its expansion of Compark, a 140,000-square-foot data center facility in Denver. The company launched a 100-Gigabit backbone to multiple facilities across the U.S., including Brookwood, Compark and seven other locations.
