Portman Industrial, a division of Portman Holdings, has purchased a 40-acre lot for the development of a 536,000-square-foot, two-building industrial project in Charleston, S.C. Construction is expected to start in December 2023 and completion is scheduled for February 2025.

JLL represented the developer in the land acquisition. Lee & Associates negotiated on behalf of the seller and will serve as leasing agent.

Summerville Logistics Center will comprise two buildings, measuring 260,000 and 306,000 square feet. The single-load facilities will share a 210-foot truck court.

Located along U.S. Highway 78, the development will provide easy access to Interstate 26 and to Port of Charleston, which is within 25 miles.

Summerville Logistics Center will be developed 9 miles south of another project by Portman. Campus 4 at Camp Hall is a 188-acre Class A logistics park that has three facilities encompassing 940,000 square feet of space. The developer is currently constructing a fourth building, planned to encompass 1.1 million square feet and expected to come online in September.

Portman currently has 2.6 million square feet of industrial products in various stages of development. In April, in a joint venture with D2 Organization, the company started construction on a 587,000-square-foot warehouse project in Carney’s Point, N.J. The project is slated to come online in 2024.
