Cranbury, N. J.—China-based Porton Fine Chemicals Ltd., a contract development and manufacturing organization, recently announced the opening of the new Porton Process Chemistry Technology Center (PTC) in Cranbury.
Situated off the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), the facility is in close proximity to many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer Inc. and Merck & Co. The PTC can be reached in approximately 45 minutes by road from Newark International Airport. In addition, the location also offers easy flight access to the innovation hotbeds of Boston and California. The new venture will serve the US biopharmaceutical industry offering services such as drug development and cross-lifecycle research, from a location that is convenient to East Coast and West Coast-based companies.
A team of approximately 75 employees is set to staff the facility, areadevelopment.com reports. “Leveraging the critical mass of experienced process chemists in this region and integrating PTC’s CRO capabilities with PFC’s manufacturing expertise centered in a lower cost geography such as China will offer powerful end-to-end solutions and seamless supply chains to the biopharmaceutical community,” Porton USA VP & PTC General Manager, Dr. Todd Nelson, said in prepared remarks.
Apart from catering to the US market, the new location will also complement PTC’s Shuitu Technology Center, slated to open by the end of the year in Chongqing, China.
