Potawatomi Adds $80M Tower to Milwaukee Casino
Pending city approvals, the 180,000-square-foot expansion will add 119 rooms and suites for a total of 500 keys, as well as a spa and additional meeting space.

Forest County Potawatomi Community unveiled plans for the construction of a second tower at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee. Pending city approvals, the 180,000-square-foot expansion will add 119 rooms and suites for a total of 500 keys. The owner and operator of the hotel expects to start construction later this year and estimates the total investment at $80 million.
The LEED Gold-certified Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is located on the shore of the Menomonee River at 1721 W. Canal St., about 3 miles west of downtown Milwaukee. Opening in 1991 as a bingo hall, the property underwent several expansions and now features seven restaurants, 2,500 slot machines, 100 table games and a 500-seat theater, with the hotel’s first phase debuting in 2014. The new tower will also add a spa and additional meeting space to the property’s already operational 60,000 square feet.
“By adding nearly 60 suites to the property with this expansion, we’re prioritizing our casino guests and their experience when visiting,” said Rodney Ferguson, COO of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, in prepared remarks. “The rooms, along with the spa, will bolster the property’s reputation as an attractive destination for visitors in the region and beyond.”
The owner expects to open the second tower in the spring of 2019. Currently employing nearly 2,700 people, the Milwaukee hotel will add an extra 50 permanent jobs upon completion.
