Public Storage Expands CO Footprint
The company has brought 700 self storage units to the community of Colorado Springs. The facility is in a new neighborhood, 13 miles of the city’s downtown.
Public Storage has opened an approximately 107,000-square-foot facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. The 700-unit asset marks Public Storage’s second opening in Colorado Springs within the last two months.
Located at 3601 Blue Horizon View, the facility is in a new neighborhood, alongside Freeway 21, around 13 miles of downtown Colorado Springs and roughly 18 miles of the Colorado Springs Airport. Climate-controlled and outdoor units at the newly opened three-story facility range from 25 to 300 square feet. Additional characteristics include drive-up access, keypad access, moving supplies and parking spaces.
Relocating Millennial population is fueling growth in the city. Between 2010 and 2015, the city attracted 15 percent more residents in that age group than any other city in the U.S., according to nonprofit public policy group BrookingsInstitution.
Public Storage has been active in other markets as well. One of the company’s largest investments includes the acquisition of a six-property self storage portfolio in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.
