Public Storage has opened an 890-unit self-storage facility in Plano, Texas. The asset marks the company’s ninth self-storage facility in the city. The firm’s largest self-storage facility debuted earlier this year in Jersey City, N.J. According to the plans, the facility will also serve the needs of Allen, Texas, a city located adjacent to Plano.
Located at 7950 Ohio Drive, the storage facility is a three-story building surrounded by many apartment communities and business centers. Toyota relocated its headquarters to Plano in 2014, joining a local roster that includes JCPenney, Pizza Hut, Rent-a-Center and Frito-Lay. The 890-unit facility offers climate-controlled storage and the size of the units range from 25 to 300 square feet, with the smaller units being optimal for storing seasonal supplies between winters and summers.
The population of Plano has grown more than 10 percent within a five-year period, outpacing growth in Dallas and Houston during the same period. “There’s been a lot of growth all over,” said Nate Armistead, manager at Public Storage in prepared remarks. “People keep moving in for jobs, which is why we stay busy.”
