Raw Material Manufacturer Expands to Central Ohio

Columbus 2020, the economic development organization for the Columbus Region, recently announced that Ohio Pack is planning a $25.4 million investment in Heath, Ohio. The investment calls for $13 million toward building costs and nearly $12.4 million for machinery and equipment needed in the 135,000-square-foot plant. The manufacturer of raw material used in flexible packaging for the food industry will also create 66 new jobs over five years.

Located on a 20-acre site in the southern end of the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority’s Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center, the facility will manufacture blown plastic film, a material used in flexible packaging manufacturing. “The Columbus Region’s proximity to existing food and beverage manufacturing facilities, the availability of real estate suitable to our needs and the support of state and local partners all contributed to our decision to open a facility in Heath,” said Ohio Pack Director Mark Kasberg, in a prepared statement.

According to the Newark Advocate, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.6 percent, 7-year job creation tax credit for Ohio Pack. The manufacturer plans to begin operations in 2018. Hiring for the new positions will also begin next year.

Columbus 2020 previously worked on the deal that brought Honda‘s investment in two new Ohio facilities last year.
