The iconic 600 West building in Chicago’s Goose Island is getting ready to welcome a new tenant. River North Gym will open its second club in the city, in addition to the one located within Merchandise Mart. Savills Studley, which has recently negotiated two other office expansions in Chicago, closed on the 26,502-square-foot long-term lease on behalf of the tenant.
The agreement stipulates that RNG will receive signage rights and access to the riverwalk and the building’s roof desk for classes. The company plans to upgrade the space in order to transform it into a millennial-focused experience.
“Once complete, the updated space will emphasize the natural light and incredible river views unique to this location, and feature new equipment and a variety of classes similar to boutique fitness providers but within a full-service gym,” Bernie LeCocq, owner of RNG, said in a prepared statement.
The new location is an iconic one for the city. Built in 1906 as a 1.2 million square-foot warehouse and office building, 600 West was designated a Chicago landmark in 2000. The property is home to several major office and retail tenants such as Groupon, Wrigley and Fox Sports.
