Chatham Lodging Trust has acquired Residence Inn by Marriott Charleston Summerville, a 96-key hotel in Summerville, S.C. The company paid $20.8 million for the asset, which will be managed by Island Hospitality Management.

Located at 1528 N. Main St., near Volvo’s newest factory—its first in the U.S.—the hotel offers convenient access to other major companies including Daimler and Boeing. Additionally, Charleston International Airport is approximately 12 miles away. Other nearby attractions include Audubon Center at Francis Beidler, Drayton Hall, Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place.

The four-story building features a mix of studios and one-bedroom suites with separate sleeping and living areas. The pet-friendly hotel offers common-area amenities such as:

  • barbecue and/or picnic areas
  • on-site laundry
  • valet dry-cleaning
  • car rental
  • fitness center
  • outdoor swimming pool
  • business center

“This is a beautiful, brand new, superior-quality hotel located in Nexton, a rapidly expanding area just outside of Charleston which sits in the direct path of metro Charleston’s most energetic growth,” Jeffrey Fisher, Chatham’s CEO & president, said in a prepared statement. “Including the Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Summerville, this marks our second hotel in the heart of Nexton, a thriving community which mixes a smart, vibrant blend of businesses, schools, new homes, apartments, shops and eateries connected to each other by trails, parks and nature, and connected to the world through leading-edge technology.

In September of last year, Chatham Lodging paid $43.5 million for a 131-key Hilton Garden Inn hotel in New Hampshire.
