In this month’s partnership with Kingsley Associates, office workers share their thoughts on what property managers can do to help employees feel safer at their offices and how important transportation options are when it comes to commuting.

“I would like to see the building do a better job making the building secure.  The open lobby concept allows anyone to come into the building lobby to hang out.  I think that is a dangerous policy.” –Office, Dallas, Texas

“Clean & well-maintained building, quick elevators, friendly & responsive building staff (security, maintenance.) Appreciate the workout facility and meeting space on the 2nd Floor. Close to a MARTA station is also a plus, since Midtown traffic is getting crazy.” –Office, Atlanta, Ga.

“I would like to see the building do a better job making the building secure.  The open lobby concept allows anyone to come into the building lobby to hang out.  I think that is a dangerous policy.” –Office, Denver, Colo.

“Better public transit access and better thoroughfares (although not an amenity) are key. More common areas for meetings, etc., are highly desired.” –Office, Atlanta, Ga.

“Proper support in security and safety measures. There are far too little guards and we encounter too many aggressive individuals and feel like we lack support in that area.” –Retail, Montclair, Calif.

“Security watching the mail areas and also security checking out the parking areas on a consistent basis would be nice.  Sometimes it’s a little scary walking to and from your car.   Would be nice to know we could call security for an escort from time to time.” –Office, Los Angeles, Calif.

“This is a good building – we like it here. The area is not ideal for recruiting or for traffic but it works well for my employees. There is no public transportation option.” –Office, Austin, Texas

“I choose not to use the online work order service because I like the personal interaction with the management team. Security, maintenance and engineering teams are all great to work with and very responsive.” –Office, Oakland, Calif.

“At the security desks, move the swipe in scanner so that it is not on the side of the desk — impossible to get to when holding other things.  Who decided that?” –Office, Los Angeles, Calif.
