The company responsible for one of the most publicized European real estate developments in 2013, has revealed that it has plans to build yet another project in London. Sellar Property Group, which last year completed the much anticipated The Shard, the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe, is now set to develop a residential tower on the South Bank of the Thames.
Sellar Property Group will be developing the property through a joint venture with the state of Qatar, mirroring the development process for The Shard. The new project will be located on London Bridge Street, on a site currently occupied by Fielden House, a 1970s office building, according to Bloomberg.com. Set to stand 27-story tall after its completion, the new apartment tower will offer up around 150 units, and a total of 160,000 square feet of residential space. The developer will move on the project as the U.K.’s luxury market has exceed expectations recently, leading to a packed development slate for the British capital.
The project has many links to The Shard, its design being provided by architect Renzo Piano, the man responsible for the developer’s flagship development.
Sellar Property Group has also collaborated on another high-profile redevelopment project with the state of Qatar. The Place is a 428,000 square-foot office property that, along with The Shard, is the main component of the London Bridge Quarter. The Place also offers great proximity to the London Bridge Station. The building offers modern features adapted to the city’s booming office market. The buildings feature similar design flourishes, with The Place also being known as the Baby Shard in the local market. Sellar Property Group has also developed One Swan Lane, a Riverside District office building. The developer has also completed Pompey Centre, a mixed-use project in Portsmouth that includes a hotel and retail space.
