Skanska Names New EVP

Bringing 30 years of experience to the company, Gordon Childress will oversee all the firm’s construction activities in Northern California.

Skanska has named Gordon Childress as its executive vice president & general manager. In his new role within Skanska’s Oakland, Calif. office, Childress will oversee the firm’s construction operations in Northern California.

Childress possesses nearly 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Most recently, he served as the COO for Regis Contractors Bay Area, the general contracting affiliate of Sares Regis Group of Northern California. Before this, he held the position of president with Balfour Beatty Construction. During his career, Childress additionally worked for 15 years with Skanska as a senior vice president & account manager.

“I am thrilled to welcome Gordon home to Skanska,” said Leo Vetrone, COO of Skanska’s construction division in the U.S., in a prepared statement. “He pairs a strong portfolio of experience rooted in strong customer relationships with a cultural understanding of Skanska. I believe he will establish Skanska as the Bay Area’s contractor of choice and as one of the most desired places to work in the region.”

The company has made significant changes to its international executive team over the past year, including the recent naming of Anders Danielsson as Skanska’s president & CEO.
