Skanska to Build Inspira Health Network Medical Center

Mullica Hill, N.J.—Skanska USA is building a new five-story, $200 million hospital building in Mullica Hill, N.J., on behalf of Inspira Health Network.

The hospital will total approximately 350,000 square feet and feature 204 beds.

“A new medical center conveniently located in the heart of Gloucester County will be a great asset to the entire region,” John DiAngelo, Inspira Health Network president & CEO, said in a prepared release. “This modern facility will allow our physicians and staff to offer our neighbors easy access to an even higher level of quality health care.”

The hospital will be situated on a 100-acre site located on Route 322 near Exit 50 of Route 55, across from Rowan’s South Jersey Technology Park and adjacent to Rowan University’s west campus.

“Education and health care are not only important economic engines in our region, but they are both essential to improving the lives of our residents,” DiAngelo said. “Building our new medical center close to the Rowan campus will allow us to explore the possibilities of offering students valuable medical education experiences in a modern hospital.”

The state-of-the-art medical center will house more than 1,400 employees and hospital services currently offered in Woodbury, and will feature all private patient rooms and a variety of modern amenities and technologies.

According to DiAngelo, Inspira plans to implement leading-edge wireless and digital technologies in the new hospital, including electronic medical record systems.

“A new building will allow us to expand our digital technologies and enhance the care we provide our patients,” he said. “Our design will also focus on green technologies that will provide energy efficiency and help us to reduce the cost of operations.”

Key services the medical center will offer include modern, fully-equipped surgical suites; a home-like maternity center; a spacious emergency department with a dedicated pediatric ER; and a cardiac catheterization lab with emergency angioplasty for heart attack patients.

This marks the second major hospital contract Skanska USA has announced in the Delaware Valley in the third quarter, following last month’s announcement that it was selected to the build the Women and Children’s Health Building for Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Del.

Construction is set to start in the first quarter of 2017 and is scheduled for completion by December 2019.
