Sony Pictures Entertainment has entered into a long-term lease totaling 225,239 square feet at Wilshire Courtyard, a Class A office campus in Los Angeles. Savills represented the company in the multi-floor leasing agreement.

Cushman & Wakefield negotiated on behalf of the landlord, Onni Group, which purchased the two-building property from Tishman Speyer in 2019 for $630 million.

Sony Pictures plans to relocate its select divisions from the Culver City, Calif., complex to the new space at Wilshire Courtyard West. The property’s proximity to multiple production studios is a key advantage for companies working in the entertainment, media or tech industries. Wilshire Courtyard’s tenant roster includes MobScene, Entravision, Rebel Entertainment and Katz Media Group, according to CommercialEdge.

Cushman & Wakefield’s team led by Executive Directors Peter Collins and Scott Menkus, Managing Director Josh Bernstein, and Associate Alexa Delahooke worked on behalf of the landlord, together with the company’s Director of Leasing Neal Linthicum. Savills’ team led by President Josh Gorin and Vice Chairman Mike Catalano negotiated on behalf of the tenant.

Wilshire Courtyard is an office campus composed of two six-story, Class A buildings, encompassing nearly 1 million square feet of space. The 462,375-square-foot Wilshire Courtyard West is located at 5750 Wilshire Blvd, while Wilshire Courtyard East is located at 5700 Wilshire Blvd., and totals 540,391 square feet of space, according to the same data provider. The two-building asset, originally built in 1987, features retail space, floorplates between 38,000 and 100,00 square feet and 2,439 parking spots, the same source indicates.

The epicenter of the entertainment industry

The buildings underwent cosmetic renovations in 2015, implemented by the previous ownership. The office campus is LEED Gold-certified and has also received BOMA’s The Outstanding Building of the Year Award five times. Common-area amenities include an Equinox Fitness studio, outdoor balconies, recently upgraded common spaces and a park equipped with jogging trails. Additionally, a new amenity area featuring a multi-screen entertainment studio, a common area lounge, a golf simulator and conference rooms will be added to the office campus.

Wilshire Courtyard is situated on 8 acres within the Miracle Mile neighborhood, close to Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, 3.5 miles from Paramount Studios, 8 miles from downtown Los Angeles and within 9 miles of The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Calif.

Earlier this month, Savills also represented Ares Management in its lease at Anderson Towers, a two-building, Class A office campus in Los Angeles’ Century City. Ares signed a 206,000-square-foot, long-term lease at the property and will be moving in 2024.
