Spaces has recently expanded its Washington, D.C., footprint by opening Spaces Thomas Circle, its second location in the metro. The coworking space provider signed a lease to occupy 51,000 square feet across two floors in S.C. Herman & Associates’ 1441 L St. NW.

The 12-story property encompasses 210,000 square feet, Yardi Matrix data shows. Completed in 1967, it recently underwent a $36 million renovation which resulted in the addition of two new floors, private rooftop terrace with communal indoor penthouse lounge, new floor-to-ceiling glass façade, new HVAC system, transformed lobby, elevators, restrooms and common areas.

The new Spaces location features a business club, dedicated desks and private offices, fast and secure WiFi, concierge-level services, meeting rooms and a coffee bar with on-site barista. Members also have access to the amenities Regus spaces provide since both coworking brands have the same parent company, IWG.

The property is located in the city’s Thomas Circle area, minutes away from The White House and the headquarters of major agencies such as Fannie Mae. The 14th Street & L Street bus station and the McPherson Square metro station provide transportation throughout the area.

Spaces currently has 60 locations nationwide and plans to open more than 65 by year’s end. Its first Washington, D.C., location is located at 840 First St. NE, while expansion plans call for a new office in Alexandria, Va., in the second quarter of 2019.
