Each year, CPE features some of the commercial real estate industry’s top young talent. The high achievers selected as Stars to Watch represent a broad range of specialties, companies and geographic locations.
Following is a brief introduction to Shannon Price, selected as one of the outstanding young professionals of 2017. Read here about all of this year’s Stars.
Age: 30
On the Job: Managing Director, Savills Studley, Atlanta
With Company Since: March 2017
Secrets to Success: As personable as she is capable.
What Others Say About Her: “Working with Shannon is a joy,” said Brenda Robbins, senior project manager for economic development with Georgia Power, who worked with Price on the Mercedes-Benz relocation. “She consistently displays remarkable expertise, energy, and commitment to service excellence.”
Big Move: While at JLL, Price was a member of a team assigned to advise Mercedez-Benz USA on the location for its new North American headquarters. In what was dubbed “Project Eagle,” Price and her colleagues were tasked with finding a site of at least 250,000 square feet, with another 10 acres for development.
Economic impact: Mercedes’ relocation is a big win for the Atlanta region. Capital investment of $100 million has been committed between office locations in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, and two developers are planning to build hundreds of homes and retail next to the headquarters site. Mercedes is also the name sponsor of the $1.5 billion stadium that will be home to pro football’s the Atlanta Falcons.
Top honors: For her role in the relocation, Price was among those who earned the Commercial Board of Realtors’ Alvin B. Cates Award and CREW Network’s Economic and Community Improvement Impact Award.
Award citation: “The challenges that were encountered in this transaction, including the rezoning of the site and finding temporary office space, were unimaginable and yet the creative thinking and persistence in this endeavor prevailed and will have a lasting and positive legacy creating new high profile jobs in Georgia for years to come.” (From the citation accompanying the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS’ Alvin B. Cates Award.)
Quotable: “I think authenticity is the number one most important thing you can do as an individual in brokerage. Being inauthentic or putting up a façade–not only is it a ton of work, but people move on quickly because they don’t get the right feeling. So I think just being yourself and being your best self is the number-one thing that you can do.”
