SLS Las Vegas will open the first W Hotel on the Strip under an agreement announced Nov. 9 with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
The resort’s 289-key SLS LUX tower will complete the transition to a W Hotel during the third quarter of 2016. In addition, SLS Las Vegas will become part of the Starwood Tribute Portfolio, which was launched in April, and Starwood Preferred Guest programs.
Scott Kreeger, president & COO of SLS Las Vegas, will continue to oversee management of the property’s two other towers. A total of 1,324 rooms, a casino, dining and nightlife spots make up the rest of the SLS property.
The new W Las Vegas will open following a renovation that will add a new lobby, dedicated entry and reception area, an Away spa and WET, the brand’s own exclusive outdoor pool and bar. Other Starwood properties in the area include the Westin Las Vegas Hotel Casino & Spa, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa, Four Points by Sheraton Las Vegas East Flamingo, and Element Las Vegas Summerlin.
The successor to the vintage Sahara resort, SLS Las Vegas opened in August 2014 following an extensive renovation. Gensler and Philippe Starck designed the renovated property, which offers 1,613 guest rooms, eight restaurants, three nightlife/entertainment venues, two pools, 80,000 square feet of meeting space and a 54,000-square-foot casino.
