Cushman & Wakefield has signed nearly 40,000 square feet of subleases on behalf of the Sun-Sentinel, Roetzel & Andress and Newbridge Financial at three office buildings located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Executive Director Jeff Holding and Senior Director A.J. Belt negotiated the new-to-market and expansion subleases, which are estimated to generate some 130 new jobs in the city.
Health Insurance Provider Expanding Footprint
The Sun-Sentinel subleased 24,768 square feet of space on the entire ninth floor at Broward Financial Center to Garrett Laughlin, which has outgrown its modest, 4,000-square-foot home located just three blocks away on East Broward Boulevard. Offering more than 180 large cubicles and 27 private offices, the new space will accommodate Garret Laughlin’s plans to hire approximately 75 new employees.
Owned by AGS Properties, Broward Financial Center was completed in 1986 and is located at 500 E. Broward Blvd. The 24-story Class A office tower encompasses more than 304,000 square feet of space and is currently 95 percent occupied.
New Businesses Opening Shop
Auto parts seller WBR Group is set to open its first office location after signing a sublease for 6,481 square feet of space at Crown Center with Newbridge Financial. The 368,600-square-foot office campus owned by Midgard Group is located at 1451 West Cypress Creek Road. Crown Center was developed between 1982 and 1987 and is currently 80 percent occupied.
Holding and Belt also represented Roetzel & Andress in closing in a 7,759-square-foot sublease to Adams and Reese at Las Olas Centre II in Fort Lauderdale’s CBD. The New Orleans-based law firm will occupy the entire 11th floor at 350 E. Las Olas Blvd. at RREEF Property Trust’s 259,097-square-foot office tower.
Adams and Reese’s Fort Lauderdale location—the first in South Florida—will employ an estimated 15 new attorneys. The firm has 19 offices throughout the Southeast.
