Boosting its presence in Europe, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide signed an agreement with the Phoenix Enterprises, owner of Inversiones Hoteleras La Quinta S.L. U., for The Westin La Quinta Golf & Spa Resort. The hotel will debut on March 1, 2016, a conversion of the current Melia La Quinta, marking the return of the Westin brand to the Andalusian resort in Benahavis.
The property is less than a 45-minute drive from Malaga International Airport and close to the Mediterranean coastline, stylish resorts and the famous Golden Mile of renowned nightclubs, exclusive boutiques, and bars. A ninth-century Arab fortress, Puerto Banús marina, and the historic Encarnation’s Church are some of the local attractions.
“We are delighted to partner with Inversiones Hoteleras La Quinta S.L.U. and welcome back this magnificent resort in the prestigious market of Marbella as the third Westin in Spain,” Michael Wale, president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East said in a prepared statement. “Westin has reached a loyal following with its winning approach to well-being and will continue to expand its footprint throughout the region.”
The resort will feature 172 guest rooms, including five suites and one presidential suite. Guests will have access to Westin’s signature services and amenities, such as the Heavenly Bed, the Heavenly Bath experience, and the WestinWORKOUT studio. An outdoor pool and access to an approximately 16,146-square-foot Heavenly Spa complement the leisure offer.
For golfers there will be a 27-hole Championship course of fairways designed by Manuel Piñero. Various dining venues will cover a variety of culinary preferences—from Mediterranean to international—next to the brand’s SuperFoodsRx menus.
Westin La Quinta Golf & Spa Resort marks the brand’s 18th Westin hotel in Europe, but the company shows no sign of slowing down. Even though more than half of Westin hotels are in the U.S., more than 65 percent of its pipeline is outside of the country.
