Fort Lauderdale, Fla.—A new dual-branded lodging destination, The Dalmar and Element Hotel, is all set to rise in downtown Fort Lauderdale, now that Tutor Perini Building Corp. has secured the requisite Notice to Proceed for the project. Tutor Perini landed the contract to build the property, under development by Wurzak Hotel Group, seven months ago and will now commence construction posthaste.

The 24-story tower that will house The Dalmar and Element, formerly known as the Tribute/Element Hotel, will stand at 299 N. Federal Highway in the Flagler Village area of Fort Lauderdale. In addition to Dalmar’s 209 guestrooms and Element’s 114 keys, the 400,000-square-foot property will offer premier ground-level retail space, meeting space and an amenity deck with a host of coveted offerings.

The first two-in-one hotels hit the U.S. in 2003, per a report by hospitality consulting services firm HVS, and now there appears to be a trend afoot. These property types are popping up everywhere, from top-tier cities to tertiary markets like Hattiesburg, Miss., where the dual-branded Hampton Inn by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton opened earlier this week. “The dual-brand hotel concept is here to stay and is likely to grow further as investors become more acquainted with it,” per the report.

Tutor Perini is certainly familiar with this increasingly popular hotel type. The company is currently building the 51-story W/Element Hotel in Philadelphia, where it set a record in the city for the largest continuous concrete pour.

The company expects to complete construction of The Dalmar and Element in the first half of 2018.
