Empire State Realty Trust has leased 34,600-square-foot office space to Uber at 1400 Broadway, the iconic 37-story building in New York City. Uber will occupy the entire 12th floor of the building. CBRE worked on behalf of the tenant and Newmark Knight Frank, together with Keith Cody of ESRT, represented the landlord. This marks Uber’s second location in Manhattan.
The building comprises a total of 919,405 square feet, of which 225,638 are available for leasing. The asset was built in 1930 and was completely renovated in 2010. The transit-oriented building is located within minutes of two metro stations. Additionally, Times Square is within a five-minute walk. The property also features 18,000 square feet of retail space.
“Uber chose 1400 Broadway due to ESRT’s reputation and proven track record of partnering with our tenants and providing an attractive environment for tenant expansion,” said Thomas Durels, executive vice president & director of leasing and operations at ESRT, in prepared remarks. “In addition to the desirable location, 1400 Broadway has been modernized for the 21st century; will soon feature an expanded lobby and is located in the convenient Times Square South neighborhood just steps from Bryant Park.”
Last year, ESRT also closed a lease with international law firm Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP for floors eight through 10 of the building.
