Virgin Hotels Breaks Ground in Music City

The Buccini/Pollin Group and BPGS Construction began work on Virgin Group’s $110 million hotel. Virgin Hotels Nashville will feature 240 keys and is slated to open in 2019.

Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson marked a new milestone as Virgin Hotels broke ground with The Buccini/Pollin Group and BPGS Construction on Virgin Hotels Nashville in Tennessee. Featuring 240 rooms, the hotel will include 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop pool and a bar. According to the Nashville Business Journal, Virgin Group will invest $110 million in the project. The hotel is a design partnership between BLUR Workshop and Hastings Architecture Associates.

Located at the southwest corner of Division Street and 17th Avenue S., the hotel will be in situated in the historic Music Row area of the city at 1 Music Square West. The neighborhood boasts some of the most famous recording studios in music history, shops, restaurants and other attractions. “The spirit of this city is absolutely electric – from the music, to the cuisine, to the culture. We are fortunate to be a small part of what makes Music City such a popular destination among travelers,” said Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal, in a prepared statement.

An expanding brand

The 13-story, 196,000-square-foot hotel in Nashville is Virgin Hotels’ fourth lifestyle hotel currently under construction, behind ones in New York City, Dallas and New Orleans. Virgin Hotels continues to explore properties in cities such as Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, Austin, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and London.

According to the Nashville Post, Virgin Group purchased the Nashville site for $11 million at the end of 2015. The new hotel is slated to open its doors in 2019.
