Virgin Hotels Goes to New Orleans

Gatehouse Capital will develop the new lifestyle hotel, which is expected to open in early 2019.

New Orleans—Virgin Hotels has announced its plans to open a new 225-key hotel in New Orleans’ Warehouse District. Virgin Hotels New Orleans will be developed by Dallas-based Gatehouse Capital. The hotel is slated to break ground in April 2017 and open its doors to guests in early 2019.

Located at 550 Baronne St., close to the central business district, the new hotel will feature cutting-edge amenities such as a rooftop pool and lounge, a fitness center and dedicated meeting and event spaces. Gatehouse Capital has selected RTKL Architects, Mathes Brierre Architects and Broadmoor Construction to develop the project. Virgin Hotels’ Vice President of Design Teddy Mayer has also tapped a local design firm to bring an authentic New Orleans feel to the development.

Virgin Hotels has also opened a 200-key hotel in Dallas and continues to explore hotel and office opportunities in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Washington DC, London and more.
