Walker & Dunlop Taps New Managing Director & SVP

Dallas—Bethesda, Md.-based Walker & Dunlop recently announced the naming of Stuart Wernick as senior vice president & managing director, capital markets division. Serving out of the company’s Dallas office, Wernick will work on building the regional production platform, at the same time arranging commercial real estate loans to banks, life insurance companies, CMBS conduits and other capital sources.

“We are currently focused on increasing our sales force of finance and investment sales professionals and are seeing the value of the scale and reputation of the Walker & Dunlop platform in attracting industry leaders like Stuart. We’re confident that Stuart’s extensive skill set and relationships will enhance our platform as we continue growing our client base and diversifying our capital sources throughout the country,” Howard Smith, president of Walker & Dunlop, said in prepared remarks.

Prior to his most recent appointment, Wernick served Berkadia Commercial Mortgage as senior managing director for more than three years. He was also founder & president of real estate finance firm Quantum First Capital which, after 12 years of activity, was acquired by Grandbridge Real Estate Capital in 2009. Wernick holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting and finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
